    long description:
Moore & Giles was founded in 1933 in Lynchburg, Virginia during the heart of the Great Depression by Donald Graeme Moore. For over eighty years, Moore & Giles has dedicated themselves to the design and development of the most innovative and luxurious natural leather on the market. Today, they are committed to help produce the most sustainable leathers in the world. Leather, an irrefutable workhorse of a material has a long history of application; few materials can rival its longevity and flexibility of application. Nothing wears, ages or lasts quite like leather. To honor its origins, countless hours went into the creation of Aspen, a pure aniline leather for architects and designers that has an exquisitely soft hand and subtly pronounced grain. What makes Aspen truly unique is its mineral-free tanning process on hides that are byproducts from the beef industry. The tanning agent employed on Aspen is the world's first cradle-to-cradle tanning technology and is made from the fallen leaves of olive trees. These leaves are a byproduct from olive production and are not harvested from live trees. Traditionally these leaves are considered waste and are burned, but their new value has created jobs and a sustainable wage for many living in the regions where the olives are grown. Further, this tanning agent as well as subsequent steps in Aspen's process including pigmentation, dying and finishing are LBC red list chemical free. After tanning, the hides are intentionally left in their natural, open-pored state and then finished with beeswax. The end result is a leather with a expressive surface and velvety hand that is designed to last. Improving over time, Aspen will show more character, patina and beauty with wear and age.
