Flame retardant

Description
Chemical substance that alters the normal degradation or combustion processes of plastics, rubbers, textiles, papers and woods, etc. Used on the surface of or incorporated into combustible materials to reduce or eliminate their tendency to ignite when exposed to heat or a flame for a short period of time. Used to raise the ignition point; and/or to slow down or prevent combustion.
