Used to extend a material and to reduce its cost by minimizing the amount of more expensive substances used in the production of articles. Used to fill cavities or tighten joints. Relatively inert and normally non-fibrous. Also referred to as a bulking agent; pigment extender; inert filler; or impact modifier.
